Reporting to Big Sky Manager, this position provides specialized technical skills to ensure all pipeline facility control systems and equipment are effectively maintained and safely operated in accordance with our standards of performance,policies and procedures. Primary responsibilities will initially focus on Measurement assets. This position is overtime eligible, part of an on:call rotation and provides emergency support, as required.
:Independently perform installation, testing, repair and maintenance on meter station equipment and other facilities relevant to the pipeline system as required;
:Perform routine and major maintenance on gas measurement equipment, various Analyzers (e.g. Natural Gas, H2S, H2O, Hydro Carbon Dew Point), Gas Chromatographs and associated auxiliary equipment;
:Assist with pipeline asset maintenance when required;
:Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs;
:Oversee the safe and efficient completion of projects;
:Active control of contractors;
:Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TransCanadas safety, health, environment and risk standards;
:Procure resources and manage within budgets for the facilities;
:Provide support to our business partners, as required.
:Possesses analytical and troubleshooting skills;
:Competent in the use of test equipment applicable to the maintenance of control systems;
:Experience with the interpretation of technical reference documents;
:Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills;
:Proven ability to work effectively alone and in a team environment;
:Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Education and Experience
:Must be a certified journeyman Electrician and/or Instrumentation Technician with a minimum of 5 years of related workexperience;
:Other industry related certification and/or related experience would be an asset (e.g.: Instrumentation apprenticeship or mechanically inclined);
:Previous experience in the Oil and Gas Industry is preferred;
:Current with HSE training is required;
:Computerized Maintenance Management System and SAP experience will be consideredan asset.
This position requires manual dexterity and visual acuity as well as the ability to:
:Lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 pounds;
:Exert up to 100 pounds of physical force;
:Stand, walk, kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods of time;
:Twist head and back for extended periods of time;
:Work in areas classified as confined space;
:Climb and work from ladders, catwalks, staging, and platforms;
:Ascend and descend slopes and ditches;
:Work with hands above head;
:Work lying on back;
:Work in adverse weather and/or extreme temperature conditions.
*This position requires candidates to:
:Have and maintain a valid drivers license and provide a drivers abstract (record) for review;
:Successfully complete a pre:employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing;
:Travel from home base, as required;
:Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.
