The Senior Manager, Business Advisory Anti:Money Laundering (AML) / Sanctions, will report directly to the Head of Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) United Arab Emirates. The incumbent will manage a team whose remit is to provide advice, guidance and support to the Retail / Commercial/ Corporate and Insitutional Banking / Private business segments on AML and Sanctions related issues.
The role holder will deputize for the Head of Financial Crime Compliance as and when required.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Assist the Country Head of Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) to build and run an effective Country FCC team.
Deputize for the Head of Financial Crime Compliance as and when required.
Attend appropriate committees on behalf of the Country Head of FCC.
Lead the FCC Business Advisory Team, providing Subject Matter Expert advice and guidance to the business segments.
Develop staff, encouraging professional development
Support the Head of FCC to build strong relationships with Regulators, Monitors, Law Enforcement and external contacts at peer banks.
Leadership and Management
Exhibit leadership and teamwork when dealing with business colleagues.
Knowledge Development and Information Management
Identify areas for personal professional development for self and team.
Establish and develop effective working relationships with key Standard Chartered business contacts and functional contacts and work collaboratively to ensure financial crime compliance across Standard Chartered, United Arab Emirates..
Partner with Legal and Compliance colleagues to ensure a rounded, fully briefed approach to AML/Sanctions matters being reviewed.
Qualifications and Skills
The role:holder will have the following experience:
Significant FInancial Crime experience in the financial services industry.
Excellent knowledge of the Policies, Procedures and Standards relating to Financial Crime Risk, as well as knowledge of the local regulations and legislation on AML/Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF) and sanctions.
Experience working in an international bank.
Ideally experience of working in Middle East markets.
Excellent leadership experience, prior experience of managing large team and developing staff.
Strong analytical and decision making skills. Strong responsibility and organization skills. Strong drafting skills. Excellent negotiation and communication skills : written and verbal including presentation skills.
Self:motivated and self:reliant, with the ability to provide practical and effective advice. Inclusive style and good listening skills are required. Being able to accept challenges, listen to the other points of view and adapt your approach accordingly is essential.
Good judgment. Diplomacy, politeness, sensitivity and the ability to professionally stand your ground when needed.

Sound working knowledge of MS Office suite particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Understanding of the key features of relevant FCC laws and regulations that affect the bank.
