Your opportunity:
The Office of Indigenous Initiatives (OII) at the University of Toronto Mississauga is a community:informed and action:oriented office that develops and delivers Indigenous related programs and services for faculty, librarians, staff, and students. The OII liaises and advances the university’s commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Actions. Through the services of the UTM Indigenous Centre, we support Indigenous students and employees at UTM and promote equity and the inclusion of Indigenous people throughout the campus community. Reporting to the UTM Director, Indigenous Initiatives, the Coordinator of Indigenous Programming will be responsible for initiating and leading programs for Indigenous and non:Indigenous community members. This is a great opportunity to join our growing Indigenous Initiatives unit and a dynamic, enthusiastic, and dedicated OII team to advance Indigenous inclusion at UTM.
Your responsibilities will include:
:Developing and implementing community engagement strategies and plans
:Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
:Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities
:Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
:Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students
:Maintaining information on digital platforms
:Planningand overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
Essential Qualifications:
:Bachelors Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
:Minimum four (4) years relevant experience working with post:secondary students and/or Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) communities/agencies.
:Experience developing and implementing a variety of events and managing effective relationships with a wide variety of partners.
:Experience delivering services to Indigenous communities/agencies, students and/or employees in a post:secondary or community environment.
:Experience developing and determining appropriate learning outcomes for programs and assessing their outcomes.
:Experience dealing with a diverse group of students, staff, faculty and employers.
:Knowledge of Indigenous, equity, inclusion, and social justice approaches to inform programming.
:Knowledge of Indigenous educational issues and barriers, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Final Report, the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples (RCAP), and other resources pertai
