Job Summary
The successful candidate is responsible for planning programs and delivering Recreation and Culture Sports Programs and conducting a high:energy class that meets the program outlines and High Five principles (where age appropriate). Provide technical guidance on skills required for each sport as well as mentoring participants, other staff and volunteers and understanding the different approaches required to teach different ages (preschool vs. adult participants).
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Community Programs, the successful candidate will be responsible to deliver a comprehensive sport program, as developed by the Recreation and Culture Division to meet the needs of all participants and to ensure adequate safety while facilitating activities.

Support the objectives and philosophies of the specific sport program through quality instruction and excellent public and staff relations.
:
Plan, facilitate, and evaluate program activities to promote and support physical literacy.
:
Accurate completion of administrative duties (i.e. daily attendance; facility checks, equipment inventory).
:
Provide participants with instruction and supervision while effectively ensuring the safety of all participants.
:
Conduct safety checks of program equipment and program spaces.
:
Adhere to all program policies and standards as they relate to program content and delivery.
:
Effectively provide quality customer service and act as a knowledgeable resource to participants, parents, volunteers and co:workers.
:
Effectively and in a timely manner communicate any issues/ information that could impact the quality and safe delivery of the program to your direct supervisor.
:
Perform emergency procedures as required.
:
Incorporate and model the HIGH FIVE(R) Principles of Healthy Child Development in program delivery where appropriate.
:
Complete all mandatory online job required learnings.
:
Attend and participate in training and staff meetings as scheduled.
:
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
:
At least 16 years of age by the start date. (September 26, 2026)
:
Minimum of one year experience coaching or instructing the required sport.
:
Must hold a valid and current Intermediate First Aid or Standard First Aid certification with CPR C and AED from a recognized WSIB:provider or must hold a valid and current Basic First Aid or Emergency First Aid with CPR C and AED from a recognized WSIB:provider, at the employee’s expense.
:
Must hold a valid HIGH FIVE (R) Principles of Healthy Child Development certification and is at the employee’s expense.
:
Physical Literacy training is an asset.
:
Candidate will have the ability to perform and teach to different levels of participants and demonstrate strong leadership and organizations skills.
:
Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Level 3 : Vulnerable Sector Check from a Police unit that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.
Hourly Rate/Salary: 19.21 : 22.88
